Charity Angel Ambucs

The Ponca City Charity Angels  chapter is a part of a network of volunteers that belongs to Ambucs, a 501(c)3 national service organization whose mission is to inspire people to conquer challenges related to mobility and independence, whose members work in partnership with physical, occupational and speech therapists; by providing Amtryke adaptive trykes, scholarships for therapists and many forms of community service.  Those service projects are often small but deeply meaningful projects that go unfunded by government or insurance — such as making homes and playgrounds accessible.

We believe the fun and freedom of riding your own bike is something everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy. People who are unable to operate a traditional bike can now share this experience, thanks to the Amtryke adaptive tricycle.

Veteran's Initiative

Are you one of the many Veterans who bravely fought to protect our country and now face life changing challenges? AMBUCS believes you should have every opportunity to engage in the active lifestyle you enjoyed prior to your service.

We understand that some wounds are visible and some are not. If you are unable to operate a traditional bike, for whatever reason, the Amtryke adaptive tricycle may be for you.

These unique trykes are designed to accommodate riders of all ages and a myriad of physical and/or developmental challenges.

Both Physical and Occupational Therapists acknowledge the Amtryke’s many therapeutic benefits, citing improved motor skills, strength development and self-esteem.

Riders with challenges to mobility and independence often struggle to bring a bicycle up to speed quickly enough to stay upright. The Amtryke operates from a tricycle platform with the goal of getting a rider balanced and feeling secure.

Amtryke riders will increase cardio function, build strength and experience the outdoors in a new way, all of which can impact overall health and fitness. Not to mention the opportunity to ride with family and friends!

The Charity Angels spend a lot of hours giving back to the community.  From helping with the Veteran's Parade to wrapping gifts for Santa's Cause and volunteering time as volunteers for the OBI blood drive every month, the Angels are always doing something and they have fun while doing it.

Since 1955, National AMBUCS, Inc. has awarded scholarships to students pursuing degrees in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech language pathology and hearing audiology. To date, more than $9.8 million in scholarships have been awarded to over 16,500 students.

Over $200,000 is awarded annually with individual awards ranging from $600 to $1,500. There is one two-year award in the amount of $6,000.

We do a lot of good in the community, but we always make it fun!  We have a great group of women doing great things.   We love to get together to enjoy each others company, laugh together, and we host really fun monthly socials.
